{"id":1279,"date":"2021-11-29T10:49:36","date_gmt":"2021-11-29T08:49:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.opgona.training\/?p=1279"},"modified":"2021-11-29T10:49:44","modified_gmt":"2021-11-29T08:49:44","slug":"recap-week-4a-fall-2021-junior-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.opgona.training\/index.php\/2021\/11\/29\/recap-week-4a-fall-2021-junior-training\/","title":{"rendered":"recap week 4a fall 2021 junior training"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on our recent experiences and the current covid situation it was decided, in close collaboration with our clients, to spread week 4 over two weeks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>week 4a<\/strong>\u00a0reporting and test automation<\/li><li><strong>week 4b<\/strong>\u00a0data exchange, data upgrade and SQL matters<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both weeks be only\u00a0with morning teaching and afternoon assignments giving the students more time to dive into the subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this change in the course setup, the <strong>junior developers<\/strong> and their trainer Luc van Vugt <strong>met again and online for week 4a<\/strong> on Monday November 15, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">technical track<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In between the previous course week and the current one the students had been working on a business case which code had been delivered on a mutually agreed upon deadline and was reviewed by their trainer. Week 4a started with a short recap of the case and a discussion of the most common issues arisen from the review. Based on this review and discussion each student had to write a retrospect of the project himself answering questions like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>How did you go about with the planning?<\/li><li>Did you take into account the work others involved?<\/li><li>Could you recollect things learned and discussed that you needed to apply?<\/li><li>What did you finish and could have been delivered?<\/li><li>(Feeling) Lone wolf or team member?<\/li><li>How did you involve your stakeholder(s)?<\/li><li>How did you go about getting clarification on various matters\/details?<\/li><li>What \u201cshit hit the van\u201d and how\/when did you inform stakeholder(s)?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next to this a checklist needed to be created that will be of help in any next project preventing similar errors<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After this recap and discussion the group got to dive into the first new topic of this week: <strong>reports<\/strong>. During two and a halve days the students got introduced to and to work with reports in Business Central, both printable \u2013 RDLC and WORD \u2013 and processing only. Even though in the basis a fairly easy to understand topic it\u2019s always a challenge to grasp all this\u00a0<em>nuts and bolts<\/em>\u00a0that it entails. The second part of this week was spent on\u00a0<strong>test automation<\/strong>, the trainer\u2019s favorite subject as you might know. The basic concepts of testing and test automation were discussed and based on this the students got to implement their first automated tests in Business Central. First supported by well detailed exercises and later leaving more room for the students to perform their newly learned skills.
